Hermitcraft Charity Livestream Recap

General News | November 18, 2022

October 23, 2022 was remarkable.

It was unforgettable.

It was, quite honestly, like catching lightning in a bottle.

On Sunday, October 23, twenty-five creators from the Hermitcraft community came together for over four hours of multiple, highly organized, and thoughtful broadcasts that were filled with creative minigames and other programming. The community involvement was next level. Thousands viewed the dedicated event streams, contributed one of a kind artwork, showed off some fun Minecraft builds, donated to the event campaign and so much more. It was a beautiful thing!

Hermitcraft is a whitelisted Minecraft community that was founded in 2012. The members refer to themselves as Hermits and the group holds various events and activities throughout the year. According to GoodTimesWithScar, one of the organizers and participating streamers, the Hermits had never done a group event quite like this before.

The goal was to raise $25,000 and send GO Karts to hospitals in the U.S. and abroad. Before the stream officially began, over $30,000 in donations had been tallied and the contributions steadily continued to pour in, ultimately averaging over $100,000 per hour. At the end of the broadcast, the total raised was north of $420,000.

Simply put, it’s unprecedented.

The team at GO is energized by the kindness of individuals around the world who support our efforts of inspiring and healing kids through play. We recognize that our work is only possible through the generosity of those who believe in our mission and help spread the word. Since our founding in 2007, we’ve pushed forward with our quest to make play possible for hospitalized kids and families with five tenets guiding our sense of purpose.

  • We are gamers.
  • We inspire and heal through play.
  • We stand for kids, their families, and hospital staff providing care.
  • We value community.
  • We are stewards – helping others level up!

We reference this because we first handedly get to see the gaming community step up and make a difference every day. Our programs are driven by community involvement, and we believe the video game community is capable of doing major good. October 23rd proves just that.

The Hermitcraft campaign officially closed two days ago with a Grand Total of $439,599.01!

Starting now and continuing well into 2023, we’ll be hard at work organizing deployment of the 100+ Hermitcraft GO Kart fleet which will provide over 300,000 gaming experiences annually! Moments of joy and connection are around the corner for thousands of hospitalized kids both in the U.S and abroad. Achievement unlocked!

Thank you, Hermits. Thank YOU!
