We had a blast delivering two GO Karts to the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital of Oakland, California thanks to our friends at Wargaming & Twitch! These were the first GO Karts donated by each company, respectively. Thanks to their contributions, Children’s Hospital of Oakland (as of this post) currently has the most GO Karts of any facility we’ve worked with!
Children’s Hospital of Oakland received their first GO Kart back in 2013, courtesy of Astro Gaming. The cart made an immediate impact, and was in such high demand, hospital staff created a daily waiting list to ration its use among patients throughout the facility. Seeing the impact of a single GO Kart quickly inspired multiple donors to step forward and support additional builds. These two GO Karts delivered by Twitch and Wargaming will undoubtedly ease the burdens many kids face when coping with long-term hospitalization.
During our visit to the hospital, representatives from each company were able to join us to play games with kids, and learn about how the carts help child life specialists provide bedside activities during treatment. Huge props go out to both groups for stepping up and supporting the kids at Oakland!
Bonus generosity achievement: thanks to the Wargaming community, a GO Kart will soon also be delivered to a hospital in Boston. More on that front soon.
